ATI TV Wonder 200
This one is inexpensive ($54) and does not work! Whee... I returned it to CompUSA and am on card number 2.
The ATI TV Wonder 200 is a PCI card and apparently all the guts are in the window's drivers (no unix drivers on the ATI site). This reminds me of the 'win modems' which will never work on unix platforms. From pciconf, I can glean that this thing has a Conexant CX2388x chip. Hmm... I should believe the Hardware notes on the FreeBSD site. They said 'ATI TV Wonder VE' not 'ATI TV Wonder 200'.

WinTV-PTR 150
Looks like this Hauppauge! product does not use the bktr driver either. Bummer. This one cost $108.
# pciconf -l -v
none11@pci4:8:0: class=0x040000 card=0x80030070 chip=0x00164444 rev=0x01 hdr=0x00
vendor = 'Conexant Inc (Was: Globespan, ICompression Inc)'
device = 'iTVC16/CX23416 MPEG Codec'
class = multimedia
subclass = video
OK, I see a pattern. The ATI had a Conexant chip as well. Dang it. The supported hardware is:
- Hauppauge WinCast/TV
- Hauppauge WinTV-Go-FM
- Hauppauge WinTV-pci
- Hauppauge WinTV-radio
What did I get? The WinTV-PTR 150. Fark. I'll go back to CompUSA and return this one tomorrow. So much for, "oh, it will probably work." I had better luck with my Asus V2-AH2 last week.
